ANA is a Star Alliance Member airline servicing destinations in/to/from Japan. Below is a summary of ANA’s pregnancy, infant and child travel policies.

Expectant Mothers
If your expected date of delivery is less than 4 weeks (28 days) prior to departure, you will need to submit a medical certificate issued by a physician no more than 7 days before departure (including the day of departure). The medical certificate should state the pregnancy is uncomplicated and the expected date of delivery. In the form, your doctor should state that you are in good health and fit to travel. In addition, if the expected date of delivery is within 7 days, you must be accompanied by a physician.
Pregnant passengers may not be allowed to travel if the flight might change the destination due to weather conditions, etc. or if the conditions may be considered to effect on the passenger’s health during the flight.
Infants (under 2 years old)>
Infants older than 8 days old are allowed to travel on ANA flights.
Infants are not required to have their own seat however, you must inform ANA that you will be traveling with an infant on your lap.
Only one lap child is allowed per adult. If one adult is traveling with more than one infant under 2 years of age, a seat will have to be purchased for each additional infant.
Infants and toddlers are to be accompanied by a passenger at least 12 years of age.
You can also choose to purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device. ANA offers these seats at a 75% discounted fare. This may apply only when departing from Japan. Fare depends on the route, class or the discount rate.
For international flights, infants are charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight. ANA offers purchased seats at a 75% discounted fare for infants.
A ticket will have to be purchased for any flight on which the infant will be over 2 years old.
Baggage Allowance for Infants
On transpacific flights (including USA)
- Baggage Allowance: 1 piece + one fully collapsible stroller or infant carrying basket/car seat
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight: same as limit for adult fare in the same class of service (50 lb/23 kg in Economy Class, 70 lb/32 kg in First and Business Class)
All Other flights (including Europe and Asia)
- Maximum Weight for Infants not occupying a seat: 22 lb/10 kg total + one fully collapsible stroller or infant carrying basket/car seat
Children (2 to 11 years old)
Children 2 to 11 years old will be charged 75% of applicable adult fare.This may apply only when departing from Japan. Fare depends on the route, class or the discount rate.
Adult fare will be applied to children 5 to 11 years of age not accompanied by an adult over 12 years of age.
Strollers, Bassinets and Child Restraint Devices
Strollers
Baby strollers are available at the airport. For details, ask at the departure counter at the airport. You will be able to use it from the check-in counter to the boarding gate. Strollers are not available at arrival airport.
One fully collapsible stroller or infant carrying basket/car seat is allowed in addition baggage allowance for infants.
Bassinets
Bassinets are provided on ANA’s international flights (excluding some types of aircraft). Please ask for a seat where a bassinet can be set upon reservation. The cabin crew will set the bassinet for you after takeoff, at a cruising altitude.
Child Restraint Devices
You may use your own child seat which is certified in Japan (MLIT), U.S. (FMVSS) or Europe (ECE R44). Please reserve a seat in advance and purchase a child fare ticket. The following child seats may used on board the aircraft:
- Approved by the Japanese Ministry of Land
- Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT), Approved by the U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS)
- Approved by ECE R44-United Nations Economic Commission for Europe
Child restraint devices must have the labels noted below, or you will not be allowed to use it during take-off, landing, and surface movements. This includes booster seats and other types of harnesses.

Special Services for Families Flying with ANA
Orders for baby meal may be requested together with your reservation. Orders for child meal may be requested together with your reservation. Please make a request at least 24 hours prior to departure
Powdered milk is available on board. However, we recommend that you bring your own since there are limits in quantities and types. Our cabin crew will be happy to prepare it for you.
Paper diapers (M size and L size) are available on board. However, as there are limits in quantities and types, we recommend that you have an adequate supply of diapers for your trip.
To help keep children amused and entertained onboard we offer toys.
The following beverages for children are available on the aircraft: juice (orange, apple, tomato) and cola.
Baby bottles, aprons, forks and spoons are available.
