Disney World in December

Post last updated October 10, 2018

Having visited Walt Disney World in December several years ago (I chose to visit WDW for my “babymoon” – more about this in a future post), I knew right away I wanted to participate in Focused On The Magic’s Wordless Wednesday Calendar Shots for December Link Up!

Focused on the Magic

December is my favourite time to visit Walt Disney World. Not only is every resort and park decorated for the holidays but there is holiday music being played 24/7. Yes, I am one of those people that listen to the all day holiday music radio stations when I’m in the car.

So just a warning to anyone that plans to visit Disney World in December – you can’t escape the music! OK, maybe when you’re in your room but as soon as you step into the hotel lobby, a train, bus, boat, monorail, park or Downtown Disney you will hear it!

Here are some photos from our December 2007 trip.

Animal Kingdom Christmas Tree

Grand Floridian Gingerbread House

Life Size Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. They build one every year so be sure to check it out if you’re visiting Disney World this December!

Hammock Grand Floridian

Lounging at the Grand Floridian beach. Yes, I am a bit uncomfortable in the hammock. Mainly because of my almost 6 month baby bump. T-shirt weather in December = 🙂

Not exactly calendar worthy photos but they bring back some great Walt Disney World “babymoon” memories.

My new year’s resolution is to become a better photographer so next year I hope to wow you guys with my Wordless Wednesday posts!

These pics are getting me in the Christmas spirit! But making me miss that I won’t be at WDW for the holidays this year for the first time in 4 years. Love that last pic!

I have only been to WDW once in December but am hoping that I can be like you and make it a tradition to visit every year. Hoping to start in 2013!

I love the Animal Kingdom tree! It’s one that I don’t see pictures of often, but the themeing is so fun.

I went through all my December photos and believe it or not that is the only tree I took a picture of from the four parks! I agree Becky, the theming is really fun at AK 🙂

Never heard of a “babymoon”, but what a lovely idea! Thanks for sharing your great memories 🙂

I never heard of it either until I read a parenting magazine and then I decided to take one to Disney. LOL!

Beautiful photos – I particularly love the gingerbread house – mostly because I regret not seeing it in person! We have stayed at the Grand Floridian a number of times during March break but when we finally went at Christmas last year we decided to stay off site and rent an apartment for the space. I still can’t believe it never occurred to me to stop by the GF and see the house – I don’t think that I have any choice but to make a return trip for that very purpose!

I actually didn’t stay at The Grand Floridian that trip (I hope to stay there one day) but did visit specifically for the gingerbread house. It is definitely a must see in December and a good reason to return to WDW 🙂

Great pictures! I love the picture of you in the hammock at the GF lounging. Ah, takes me back. Such great weather! Disney and holidays are so perfect together!
Thanks so much for sharing and for joining in on the Disney WW Blog Hop today!

Thanks for hosting Deb! The pictures bring back a lot of good memories and yes, Disney really knows how to celebrate the holidays

I could simply visit the resorts during December, not visit a single park, and be completely happy!!

I could too! Actually on that trip I think we visited 8 of them! One a day… Just to see the trees. Need to go and check out the rest next time

We’ll be at Disney next week for a really quick visit. I wonder if I can fit in a visit to the GF to see that Gingerbread house while we’re there! That looks too cool to miss up. 🙂

I think it should be up already Tonya (not 100% sure) but Grand Floridian is worth the visit even outside of December. It is a gorgeous gorgeous resort!

What a great collection of photos! I’ve never visited WDW (only Disneyland) during the holiday season so these are giving me some ideas. This has got to be one of the best places to spend a babymoon. Love the hammock and the gingerbread pictures!

My husband and I thought it was a great place for a babymoon but some friends thought we were crazy. Most people go to a beach to relax and lie around before the real work starts. We chose Disney because we wanted to eat and walk the parks every day. HA!

Thank you! Hammock was fun but difficult to get out of – my husband had to help me get out.

While I enjoy listening to the Christmas music most of the time, we found that when we stayed at the Grand Californian in the middle of Downtown Disney that it got a little extreme. If you even opened the door to your balcony, you were bombarded with full volume carols in their Disney-fied versions.
Of course, a walk down Main Street in December just wouldn’t be the same without the music playing. That’s one of the best feelings of every Christmas trip.

I would agree about Downtown Disney in Florida – full volume music! While we Didnt stay in the Downtown Disney area in Orlando I can see it would be a bit much and I probably wouldn’t be on the balcony often :).

Christmas music on Main St is a must! Gives you the warm fuzzies LOL!
