Eat This When in Seattle

Post last updated July 25, 2013

It’s Instagram Travel Thursday again and I have another food heavy post for you. I promise… this is going to be the last one. I think.

My plan for Seattle was to do a little sightseeing, exploring and a lot of eating.

Here are some of my most memorable bites from one week in Seattle (click on the photos to see the actual Instagram photo share):

Seattle Molly Moon's Honey Lavender Ice Cream

Seattle is home to my favourite ice cream – Honey Lavender at Molly Moon’s. See those two words on the bottom right? It’s no joke!Β pure deliciousness

If I could fly home with tubs of this in my suitcase, I would. Unfortunately ice cream cannot handle 6 hours on a plane.

Seattle Shaved Ice at Din Tai Fung

Shaved Ice Dessert at Din Tai Fung. This restaurant is known for its dumplings which we had (they’re very good) but the highlight of our meal was dessert.

Shaved ice, taro, tapioca balls, lychee and mango jelly, mango pudding and red bean. I’ve had this traditional Taiwanese dessert before but not this big! You can’t really see it in the photo, but we had to use a soup ladle to scoop it.

Seattle Serious Pie Tom Douglas Pizza

This is some serious pizza from Tom Douglas’ restaurant downtown – Serious Pie.

Pizza on the Left: eggs, smoked proscuitto, pecorino sardo and asparagus

Pizza on the Right: yukon potato, pecorino and rosemary

Both were tasty but the runny egg, asparagus and prosciutto combo – to die for.

Seattle Wandering GooseWe all know Seattle is about coffee but the latte above was surprisingly better than my usual Starbucks order. Maybe it’s the decoration – adds to the whole experience.

I met up with new friends Terumi and Keryn at Wandering Goose in Capitol Hill for breakfast and caffeine fix. The homemade raspberry biscuit was delicious and the perfect accompaniment to my above average latte.

Oh Seattle… every time I visit I somehow gain 5 pounds.

Oh my, it all looks so delicious! Seattle has been near the top of my wish list for a while but I had no idea about the food! The Taiwanese dessert looks incredible!!

Yes, I did not know about the food either when I first visited Seattle, Lisa. I just thought it was all about coffee and seafood. There are tons of amazing chefs and restaurants there. I suppose that’s why Top Chef chose it for the previous season.

5 pounds!? You’re lucky. With food like that I’m sure I’d be gaining at least 10 or 20. Everything looks absolutely to die for! My husband and I just got back from New Orleans where we had some really delicious food too, but seriously, there is little I love more than a good cup of coffee. I think Seattle is the next place on our list to visit…
