Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa is driving distance to many of Toronto’s popular attractions and is perfect for families looking for a centrally located hotel without the busyness of downtown.
Here’s a few reasons why to consider Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites for your next visit:
Separate Living and Sleeping Area
All rooms are suites with a separate living and sitting area.
Instead of the traditional two beds in one room layout, suites have two separate rooms. In one room there is one or two beds in a room and in the other is a sitting area with a queen size pullout sofabed, coffee table, bathroom and mini bar.
This is perfect for parents who want to hang out after their kids fall asleep. Shut the door and watch TV in the other room. No more having to go to bed at 8 PM!
Two Televisions
Because the sitting and sleeping areas are separated, there are two flat screen TVs in a all rooms. Parents and children won’t have to fight over what to watch.
Comfortable Sofabed
I have had my fair share of sleeping on a sofabed with one of my children when we travel. Most are paper thin and springs are practically digging into your back all night.
Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites recently renovated and one of the changes was to bring in memory foam sofabeds.
I tested it out one night and can say it is quite comfortable. The memory foam is much thicker than the standard sofabed mattress.
Would I choose the sofabed over the regular bed? No, but I wouldn’t be dreading it like I do at other hotels.
Excellent Food
This Hilton property has some amazing food. The quality of the food in Essence of Unionville, the spa and Absolute Lounge was quite unexpected – especially at a large chain hotel like Hilton.
Huge Gym
For those looking to keep up with their fitness routine while on vacation, the Hilton Toronto/Markham has a gym with plenty of exercise machines and equipment to choose from, an indoor swimming pool and squash courts.
As this is a local gym, hotel guests share the facilities and equipment with members. Not bad considering that the gym is large compared to hotel gym standards – not just a tiny room with 2 or 3 treadmills.
Full Service Spa and Salon
There is a full service salon and an eforea: spa at Hilton (Canada’s first) here.

Schedule a haircut, mani/pedi or a massage while the kids play in the pool, hang out at the zen garden, or visit tourist attractions with the other parent while you’re getting pampered.
Complimentary babysitting is available for those with salon or spa appointments.
Location to Attractions
The Toronto Zoo, Canada’s Wonderland, Ontario Science Centre and Legoland Discovery Centre are driving distance from this hotel. Guests are looking at a 20-25 minute drive at most to each of those attractions.
Vaughan Mills (where Legoland Discover Centre is located) and Markville are two malls within driving distance.
Main Street Unionville is also a great place to visit and only 5 minutes driving from the hotel and is renowned for the pubs and restaurants, shops and park/pond area.
Oh, and also for a popular TV series several years ago. Main Street Unionville was used part of the first season of Gilmore Girls!
The hotel is located near the highway (404) for guests wanting to visit downtown Toronto attractions – CN Tower, Rogers Centre, Royal Ontario Museum and Eaton Centre (mall).
Plenty of Dining Options
While the food at the hotel get thumbs up from my family, there are plenty of places to eat outside of the hotel.
Whole Foods, Panera Bread, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, McDonald’s, Milestones and Menchies are less than 5 minutes driving. There is also First Markham Place too for those looking for Asian cuisine.
Final Notes
For families travelling with young children, this hotel does not have bed rails as the mattresses are quite thick. Play yards and cribs are available on a first come first serve basis.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to families visiting Toronto. The weekend of my visit, the hotel was completely sold out and many of the guests were families with kids.
Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa is centrally located to many popular tourist attractions and offers families more than just a place to sleep.

Lovely 🙂 The rooms look great and the desserts even better. That looks like a huge sesame snap, yum!
Yes Heather! That sesame snap was the length of my hand! HA HA HA. The desserts are to die for there. They have an amazing in house pastry chef!
Holy cow, I’d go just for the food – that looks awesome!!! I love the living room/bedroom area… we stayed in a place like that for one trip and it was GREAT with kids. 🙂
Yes, I couldn’t agree more. This is one of only a handful of times that we have had separate living and sleeping areas. It makes a big difference! My husband and I can watch TV, chat, read a book etc. Much easier than sitting in the dark and surfing on our phones 😉
My family visited here recently and we loved it. Great price, great location and lots of space. I didn’t get to check out the local area very much – would love to do that next time.
There’s a lot to do in the area Kerrie so hopefully next time you visit you’ll be able to explore the neighbourhood.
This is my go-to hotel when I’m staying in the Markham area. Everything about it is amazing – good food, rooms, staff. All A+.
It was my first time as a hotel guest (I go to eat there often) and I loved it! So close to everything.
What a gorgeous hotel! The food look spectacular too!
Wow, what a great option. With the access to all those attractions and the separate living/sleeping spaces it makes perfect sense for a family. I love the idea of mom sneaking off to the spa!
Thank you for coming to link up to Travel Tuesday!
Looks like a nice place to stay in Toronto, will have to try and remember it for the next time we go there.
