I’ve been travelling a lot to Minneapolis for work lately. While it has been very tough to be away from my family, the travel has afforded me an opportunity to experience some amazing food, not to mention kid-free dining.
I’ll be writing a series on restaurants in the Twin Cities along with my recommendations for best bets on the menu.
First in line: 112 Eatery.
A casual restaurant in downtown Minneapolis with affordable small plates, delicious mains and incredible desserts.
It’s no wonder when you realize the Chef and owner Isaac Becker is named Best Chef in the Midwest by the James Beard Foundation.
We started off strong with four amazing starters: seared scallops with oyster mushrooms, 112 steak tartare, cauliflower fritters and sweet and sour crab salad.
Each one was better than the last! I would have been happy if our meal just ended there but the fantastic food kept coming.
Next I had the half portion of the tagliatelle with foie gras meatballs which were melt in your mouth incredible.
The nori encrusted sirloin with ponzu was probably the best entree at the table, which came with a knob of wasabi that provided the perfect kick to the flavourful grass-fed beef. My friend devoured the 112 cheese burger within seconds as if it was his first meal of the day.
I didn’t think I could eat another bite but the table couldn’t resist ordering the butterscotch budino (an Italian pudding dessert). Let me tell you, I managed another bite, plus a few more because it was THAT good! I’m craving it now just thinking about it.
You can’t go wrong with this place, I promise you’ll enjoy the food and the flawless service, all at a very reasonable price point for the quality you receive.

That looks delicious! I am pretty sure I could just eat the scallops and leave happy like you, but they all look so yummy
I believe I would be in heaven, I often have scallops and a salad when we go out to dinner
The food there looks really good and amazing presentation!
