Harmony Barber Shop: An Affordable Alternative to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Post last updated May 12, 2014

If you have a child who’s interested in getting their hair done (or cut) while at Disney World and want to keep costs minimal, head to Harmony Barbershop inside Magic Kingdom.

It’s located on Main Street USA and is on the left hand side as soon as you pass the main gates. The Harmony Barber Shop is quite small with only three barber chairs and offers hair cutting services for both kids and adults.

Harmony Barber Shop

We booked appointments for both our children to get their hair cut (or styled in our daughter’s case as she is picky on who cuts her hair) on our last trip to Disney World.

Our son got the First Haircut Package ($18) which includes a hair cut, a pair of Mouse Ears with the words “My 1st Haircut” embroidered on the back,  a certificate recognizing his bravery (as there were a few tears shed by him despite the spinning light up Cars toy and stickers put all over his t-shirt to keep him distracted) and some hair clippings wrapped in tissue for my scrapbook.

Our daughter chose a ponytail and pixie dust (confetti) over a haircut. That set us back $5 and she thought she looked just as good as the girls she saw the night before at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

It also helped that we found some stick on jewels and put them on her cheeks before heading to Harmony Barber Shop and I applied some pale pink nail polish to her nails the night before. Hurray for money saved! Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique packages start at $55 so it was considerable savings for us.

Tips for Harmony Barber Shop

1. Make an appointment in advance by calling Disney Dining 407-WDW-DINE

2. Walk in appointments are accepted however it does get quite busy in there as it is a small place. If you decide to walk in without calling in advance, your best bet would be to go during lunch time or during a parade.

3. Try to time your appointment with one of the parades or a few minutes before a parade is about to start. Harmony Barber Shop is located at the start of the parade route. It’s air conditioned too so if you want to escape the heat and the noise this is a good place to be come parade time.

This is awesome! I completely missed this when we went to Disney a couple of years ago. I hope we can afford to go back fairly soon, so my daughter can get a special cut while she is still young 🙂

Oh my word this is so adorable. I can’t wait until my daughter is old enough to go to Disney and enjoy something like this, but maybe for her first haircut we will have to do this! I’m so glad your kiddos enjoyed themselves.
