This past weekend we celebrated the start of summer vacation at Horseshoe Resort in Barrie, Ontario.
Located just one hour north of Toronto, Horseshoe is a popular ski and snow tubing resort frequented by schools, families and outdoor enthusiasts during winter months.
Horseshoe Resort’s Adventure Park
In the summer, Horseshoe turns into an Adventure Park which offers a variety of activities for kids of all ages – including some one of a kind adrenaline filled activities for adults.
We spent two days at Horseshoe Resort’s Adventure Park where both kids played mini putt, attempted rock climbing, practised on balance bikes, went gem mining, tried their hand at archery and jumped on the bouncy castle/obstacle course.
They both really loved pedalling around the small man-made pond and getting lost in the Red Horse Maze.
My husband and I took in some of the more adventurous activities including an adventure buggy tour (be prepared to drive in mud and get a little messy), zip lining and Canada’s only outdoor gravity orb – the Aqua Ogo.
Aqua Ogo: Canada’s Only Outdoor Gravity Orb
What’s it like to be zipped up inside a large plastic ball and rolled down a hill in less than 20 seconds? Freaking AMAZING.
I loved it so much I could have spent the entire day on that hill.
I will admit that diving head first into the ball filled with ice cold water and being zipped up shortly after was a bit nerve wracking.
This is not an activity for those with claustrophobia – my husband and kids did not want to join in the rolling down the hill fun but as soon as the gates opened, I was screaming and smiling the entire way down.
The Adventure Park is great for families looking for some outdoor fun and don’t want to spend a ton of money doing it.
The park isn’t large and most activities are walking distance from one another. Parents can sit on the many benches or patio chairs while their kids go from activity to activity.

We have been to Horseshoe many times, but to enjoy skiing. I will have to go sometime this summer and experience all that it has to offer
