Lord Elgin Parkview Double Queen Room Review
Families have several different room options when staying at Lord Elgin.
- Classic Queen/King – 1 queen or king bed
- Classic Double Queen Room – 2 queen beds and sitting area with pullout bed
- Accessible Queen Room – 1 queen or king bed with accessible bathrooms and wheel-in shower
- Parkview King/Queen Room – 1 king or queen bed with views of the park
- Parkview Double Queen Room – 2 queen beds and sitting area with pullout bed
- Elgin Class Rooms – Corner luxury rooms with views of Confederation Park
- Rideau Suite & Churchill Suites – Corner suite or full size apartment suite
The Lord Elgin was recently renovated and our Queen room was very clean and had everything we needed for a short weekend visit.
Lord Elgin rooms feature large windows, marble-tiled washrooms, an in room safe, a Keurig coffee machine and a large closet area for boots and skates – perfect for families visiting during the winter.
Our room had a small sitting area, pullout sofa bed (we didn’t use this so can’t comment on how comfortable it is), a flat panel TV and desk area.
Lord Elgin is an environmentally conscious hotel. If you opt out of daily housekeeping, you’re given a $5 coupon for Starbucks or Grill 41 (the onsite restaurant). For longer stays, bed linens and towels are changed every 3 days unless requested otherwise.
The blackout curtains provided very comfortable sleep and this hotel was quieter than the Carleton Suite Hotel. Given that the Lord Elgin is not a suite hotel, there were less sports teams staying here and less hallway noise at night and in the morning.
The view from our room was amazing. We were right across from Confederation Park and Rideau Centre. We could also see City Hall and the Sens Rink of Dreams – good for seeing what the crowd levels were before heading over to skate – and not to mention how long the lineup was at BeaverTails. 🙂

We opted to leave our car with the valet – we walked everywhere we needed to go and the only time we needed the car was on checkout day.
Lord Elgin Location & Nearby Dining Options
Getting to Lord Elgin from the airport is easy – it’s less than a 20 minute drive Ottawa International Airport.
There are some budget and family-friendly dining options walking distance from the hotel as well. Here are some of the places we’d recommend checking out:
Starbucks – connected to the hotel on the ground floor
Grill 41 – onsite hotel restaurant
Scone Witch – Restaurant specializing in sweet and savory scones. A popular destination for locals and tourists so we recommend heading there earlier in the day as menu is very limited by the end of the day
Shinka Sushi Bar – Sushi and sashimi
Mad Radish – Sandwiches, soup, salad bowls
Le Moulin De Provence KD – French pastries, bread, coffee, bistro fare

It is walking distance to many tourist attractions and museums as well as a plethora of dining options. Customer service is excellent, staff are attentive, helpful and friendly and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again with my family.
